Asian Fest: Celebrate the Culture of Caring Community

Hi all!

First of all, on behalf of PNA-IN I would like to thank AAAI, Marife Callender, Asian Fest Event Manager, (her husband John & daughter Nicole plus boyfriend) for giving us the opportunity to do our first Community Outreach: Wellness Screening, Health Promotion, BP, BMI, Hgb A1C & Cardiolipid Testing and Medical Consultation!

Our heartfelt thanks too to the following:

  1. Sponsor:  our Hgb A1C & Cardiolipid testing sponsors: Will Benedict, PTS Diagnostics Vic President and General Manager and Josie Soliven, PTS Training and Recruiting Coordinator.

  2. Volunteers:

    1. IPMA: Drs. Leo & Ninna Solito

    2. PAMET Indiana: From Merrillville:  Damie Guinday, Paula Chang, Simon Solizar, Lenilyn Peralta, and from Indianapolis: Josie Soliven and Darwin Manalang.

    3. PNA-IN: Redd Knotts, Chuchi Esteleydes, Nitz Delacruz, Shelley & Ellie McKay Gaviola, Josie Jimenez, Fatima Gaoat, Guilly & Susie Quintia, and Mattie Upano.

Despite the pandemic, there was a good turnout at the Asian Fest. For four hours we tested 54 participants. There was a steady stream at an average of 13 plus persons per hour. Our volunteers were only too happy to accommodate them, with PPEs observed all throughout. Some of us may have taken our masks off momentarily to enjoy a photo op specially with Indiana Governor Holcomb who towered over us! Not to worry, all of us have been vaccinated.

This event really showcased and made visible PTS Diagnostics, PNA-IN, IPMA, PAMET of Indiana in action with our banners displayed throughout our Testing Booth shared only with the Indiana State Board of Health as we served our people of Indiana. Dr. Benny Ko, IPMA member was also one of the volunteers at the ISDH COVID Vaccination booth.

We met new nurses to Indiana: Jiselle Bermudez Rains from UK, now employed at Methodist Hospital PACU who paid for a two year membership, Fatima Gaoat from the Philippines, now at St. Vincent’s and one not so new, Natalie Relano who has retired but came back to work at American Senior Communities Long Term Health Care. All three have become new PNAA/PNA-IN members.  Four long term members: Susie & Guilly Quintia, Shelley & Van Gaviola renewed for two years, while Celia Conlu renewed for one year. Welcome to you all! PNA-IN is only viable and continue to SPARK because of you, our members!

Again, my hat’s off to all! Kudos for a successful event! Stay safe and take care!
