Mila Woodings Scholarship Fund Outstanding Recipients

On behalf of the late Mila Woodings family, PNA-IN proudly presents the following six outstanding recipients of the Mila Woodings Scholarship Fund. Award Ceremony was held at the PNA-IN’s 15th Year Anniversary Luau on Aug. 22, 2015 at the Latvian Community Center, Indianapolis, IN. Awards were officiated by Mila’s eldest daughter Brenda Woodings Ewigleben, assisted by her husband Tyler, Dad: Jud Woodings, siblings: Kim & Jared and Mattie Upano, PNA-IN President.

 

Jennifer Daggett, ASN, RN
Jennifer Daggett will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Jennifer has her Associates in Nursing and is currently a Registered Nurse working in the Operation Room at Methodist Hospital and as a supplemental at Riley Hospital for Children in the Emergency Room Department. Jennifer was inspired to become a nurse after her younger sister had a stroke and she spent time helping her with rehabilitation and therapy. One day, she hopes to serve on the Mercy Ship as a Surgical Nurse. 


Jennifer has four children and is actively involved in her church. With her church, Jennifer went on her third medical mission trip to El Salvador. In four days of clinic, they saw over 1,000 patients and filled upward of 3,000 prescriptions.

 

Lindsey Gangstad, BSN, RN
Lindsey Gangstad will graduate with a Master’s of Science in Nursing to become an Adult – Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Lindsey’s passion for nursing started at a young age with particular interest in assisting patients overseas without access to medical care. Currently, she is a Registered Nurse at Indiana University Health.

 

Lindsey has volunteered in the past on a hospital ship called Mercy Ships in 2012 along the coast of Togo. Today, she volunteers as a nurse at Shepherdson Center Clinic and Morning Dove.

 

Oladele Oyedele
Oladele Oyedele will graduate with honors in May 2017 with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Oladele migrated from Nigeria to the United States in 2010. He developed an interest in becoming a health care provider in Africa as he worked in a university teaching hospital as a cameraman. There he witnessed patients dying from cancer because of the lack of caregivers. After Oladele finishes his undergraduate degree, he plans to continue with a graduate education with a focus on oncology. 


Oladele spends his free time in leadership positions at his church. He is the church financial secretary, treasurer, and on the tech team. Oladele is also a research assistant at the Indiana University School of Nursing. 

 

Megan Pollard
Megan Pollard will graduate in May 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Her passion for nursing began after her brother was hospitalized and received excellent care from the nurses her family connected with. After graduation, she would like to work in the Emergency Room or psych/mental unit. Further down her career, Megan will return to school for her Master’s Degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. 


Megan helped establish the Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic. This opportunity allows her to work with not only other nursing students, but medical, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational, social work, and law students. 

 

Linnessa Scott
Linnessa Scott will graduate in May 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana School of Nursing. Linnessa’s interest in nursing lies in her drive to help others physically, emotionally and spiritually. She currently volunteers as a student nurse at the IU Student Outreach Clinic aiding in triage, patient assessment and other various clinical duties. Linnessa also works as a Patient Services Assistant at RN & Allied/At Home Preferred. 


Linnessa is a US Gulf War Navy veteran. Her travels with the Navy often times brought her to the Philippines and allowed her to learn about the Filipino culture and create close friendships. Linnessa values family with her oldest child beginning college this fall. 

 

Gabe Woodruff
Gabe Woodruff will graduate in May 2017 with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Gabe realized he wanted to be a nurse when he was exposed to the health field in a personal way. His father and grandfather underwent heart surgeries a few years apart and created a desire to be involved in medicine after interacting with the nurses. Gabe has plans to become a Nurse Practitioner further down his career focusing on Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. 


Gabe is focused on the military and the Lord. He is an Airborne Infantry soldier in the Indiana Army National Guard. He desires to commission as a 2LT in the Army Nurse Corps. His other commitments lie in the church, as he serves as a trustee as well as a deacon. Gabe will also be married next summer.
