2015 PNA-IN BSN Scholarship Awardee

Catherine Lilisa Derosas, BSN

Catherine graduated from Ball State University School of Nursing in Muncie, Indiana with a Bachelor of Sciencein Nursing(BSN) and a minor in Psychology of Human Development in July 2015.  As a testament to her hard work and dedication, she graduated With Honors (Cum Laude) and was on the Dean’s List all 4 years in college. She led her nursing class as President. She insured all of her colleagues’ opinions were voiced and heard.  She led and planned a successful fundraiser and pinning ceremony.  During her college career, she was a member of the Ball State Student Nurse Association. She was also a member of the Women of Woodworth Hall Council.  Not only was she focused on her education, she served her community as well.  She was a volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank distributing food to homeless shelters and Community Hospital South’s Angel of the Unit in the Emergency Department, providing basic patient comfort.

Catherine intends to work in the state of Indiana as a registered nurse.  After a few years of experience, she plans on pursuing a master’s degree to teach nursing. To serve those who have served our country, she would someday like to work in Veteran Affairs to serve our veterans.  She hopes to continue on being a positive member of the Philippine Nurses Association of Indiana (PNA-IN) and continue to gain knowledge and wisdom from her mentors and the PNA-IN community.
