Excellence in Leadership Award at the PNAA North Central Regional Conference in Chicago, Illinois on April 24, 2015.

 

Pressy graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines with a BSN degree and from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana with a MSN-ANP degree, Summa Cum Laude.  She is an active member of the Philippine Nurses Association of Indiana, Inc. (PNA-IN) and has been a Board Member for six years as well as Chair of Scholarship Committee for the past four years.  Pressy received the PNA-IN Excellence in Teaching Award in 2012. 

 

According to Dr. K. Renee Twibell, PhD, RN, CNE, Associate Professor, Ball State University School of Nursing and Nurse Researcher at Indiana University Health at Ball Memorial Hospital, who has known Pressy for the past 20 years, “Pressy is held in high esteem by her faculty colleagues and administrators who admire her exquisite clinical knowledge and her capacity for skilled communication and relationship-building.  She is a role model for professionalism,   dedication, excellence, and creative caring.  

 

Pressy has 15 years’ experience as a faculty of the School of Nursing at Ball State University.  She is a clinical nurse and exceptional nurse practitioner in the East Central Indiana community.  Pressy is beloved by her nursing students and by her patients and families in the Veterans Administration system.  She is highly committed to the health care of the veterans for whom she is a primary care provider.  She goes above and beyond to connect veterans with resources and delivers high quality care through chronic disease management, health education, and emotional support.  Pressy also volunteers her time and energy serving homeless veterans and at PNA-IN sponsored Wellness Screening events in the community promoting healthy living and health-related initiatives

 

Pressy has been the recipient of a number of awards for professional leadership and excellence.   She has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award for the School of Nursing at Ball State University, an award given to one faculty member each year who is nominated by students.  She has received awards for excellence in teaching and nursing practice from other professional organizations, as well. She earned the prestigious Platinum Award for Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) through the VA system.”
