2018 PNA-IN BSN EDUCATIONAL GRANT AWARDEE

BRIANA GABRIELLE “GABBY” MARAMBA
 

Gabby is a senior nursing student at Ball State University (BSU) in Muncie, Indiana. She will graduate in the Spring of 2019 as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing major with a minor in Psychology of Human Development with a focus in infants and children.  Upon graduation she plans to pursue a career in pediatric or neonatal nursing.  In the future, she intends to obtain a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

 

Currently, Gabby is a PNA-IN student member. Once she becomes an RN she looks forward to becoming an active fulltime member of PNA-IN.  She is excited to further pursue a role within the community and become a bigger influence within the Filipino nursing association. Gabby hopes to be an inspiration to all minority nurses, be someone that new graduate nurses can look up to and help them follow their dreams.

 

Gabby has achieved scholastic excellence as shown by her inclusion in the Deans’ List in the Fall Semester of 2015, Spring and Summer Semesters of 2016 and Spring and Fall Semesters of 2017. She has achieved a Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Summer of 2017.

 

While in school she had clinical nursing experiences at 1) Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University (IU) Health in Indianapolis, Indiana in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Burn Unit, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit; 2) IU Health at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana in the Psychiatric, Medical Diabetic, Medical Stroke, Progressive Care, Pediatric, Surgical, and Oncology Units and Home Care; and 3) Miller’s Merry Manor Winchester Nursing Home Care Unit.

 

Gabby continues to be involved in the community by volunteering her services. She was one of the volunteers at the recent PNA-IN Wellness and Health Promotion: Free Hgb A1C, Cardio lipid testing, BP, BMI checks, healthcare consults & dental screening at the Nationalities Council of Indiana’s International Festival at the Blue Ribbon Pavilion, Indiana State Fairgrounds. She also volunteers at the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Alpha Center Adult Day Care, Humane Society, and Boys and Girls Club of Muncie, Indiana.

 

At present, aside from being a full time BSN student and involvement in community activities Gabby is also employed as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at the IU Health at Ball Memorial Hospital.

 

PNA-IN is very proud of the achievements of Gabby and is honored to grant her the BSN Educational Award at its’ General Assembly and Christmas Gathering held on December 1, 2018 at the Hibachi Grill and Buffet in Indianapolis, Indiana.
